In Africa, there is often a need for philanthropic programs to support targeted projects to promote individual personal growth and development or focus on environmental programs such as the protection of wildlife. BringCom and its employees take pride in assisting selected cooperatives such as IBABA Rwanda (financial donations to build a roof for an embroidery workshop in the village of Rutongo, Rwanda) and non-profit organizations such as SOS Children Village in Dar es Salaam (clothing and toy donations), Forever Angels in Tanzania (sponsor of orphanages) and the Jane Goodall Institute in Africa (complementary satellite services).

Please contact us at info@bringcom.com if you would like to make a donation or get involved in our philanthropic programs.

About IBABA Rwanda, an Embroidery Workshop of the Rutongo village, Rwanda

IBABA Rwanda is the project of two French sisters with a shared passion for Rwanda, Véronique and Pascale, and their cousin Solange, who joined them recently. In 2012, they re-opened an embroidery workshop in Rutongo, a village in Rwanda. The exceptionally skilled embroiderers of this workshop had tragically stopped all activities following the genocide of 1994.

In the seventies, when the community of Belgian nuns from the Sisters of the Visitation lived in Rutongo, they started an embroidery training center and workshop to help young women from the village. The women were trained and then offered to work in the workshop. They earned a salary and were able to provide a source of income for their families. This initiative was an important social enterprise and represented for many years a great source of socio-economic empowerment for local young women.

In January 2012, Véronique and Pascale encouraged 22 embroiderers to get together and register a new cooperative, the CORUM. Soon after, Véronique, Pascale and Solange created the brand name “IBABA Rwanda” for all articles produced in the new cooperative. The IBABA project is all about a family and a cooperative of women’s dream to promote and support initiative and economic development for the empowerment of rural women in Rwanda. Its objective is to build a model of social enterprise based on the existing exceptional skills of the embroiderers. They work together with women of the CORUM cooperative to restore their economic autonomy in the village of Rutongo and allow the transfer of their know-how to younger generations in the community.

We invite you to peruse their website at www.ibabarwanda.com where you can purchase online beautiful handcrafted products from their collections.
